Type // in the chat box on any supported site and a menu of your saved prompts pops up right there. Filter as you type, Enter to drop it in.

Questions

How do I save ChatGPT prompts with this?

Open the popup, hit + New, paste the prompt and give it a name. Next time you want it, search and click Insert — it drops straight into the chat box. That is the whole loop, and it is the same on Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.

Where are my prompts stored?

In your browser's own storage, on your device. PromptShelf has no account, no server and no sync — nothing you save is transmitted anywhere. That is also the trade-off: prompts do not follow you to a second machine.

Which sites does it work on?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers.

What does Pro add?

Pro is a one-time $12 lifetime unlock: folders, unlimited prompts, and JSON import and export so you can back the library up or move it yourself. The free tier stays free and keeps working.

How is this different from the free prompt managers?

Honestly: several good free ones exist, and some sync across devices, which PromptShelf deliberately does not. PromptShelf is for people who would rather their prompt library never left their machine, and who want folders and export without a subscription.

When can I install it?

It's live right now — install PromptShelf from the Chrome Web Store and it's ready in seconds.

How does sharing work without an account?

Hit Share on any prompt and PromptShelf builds a link that encodes the whole prompt inside itself — nothing is uploaded anywhere. Whoever opens the link can read it, copy it, or add it straight to their own library. No account on either end, and no server ever sees the text.

What's the "//" shortcut?

Type // in the chat box on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity and a small menu of your saved prompts pops up right there — filter by typing, then Enter or click to drop it in. No need to open the popup first.

Do I need Pro for the new features?

No — sharing, the // quick insert and working {variables} are all free. Only version history's restore screen is Pro; recording still happens for free accounts, so nothing is lost if you upgrade later.
